The Douglas Eagles couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Guntersville by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Douglas of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

The victory made it two in a row for Guntersville and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Douglas will be playing at home against Albertville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Guntersville, they will square off against Hazel Green at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
