The Ruidoso Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since December 23, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Hot Springs, falling 68-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ruidoso in their matchups with Hot Springs: they've now lost six in a row.
Ruidoso's loss came despite strong showings from Mason Fikany and Patrick Kimbrell. Fikany scored 17 points along with two steals, while Kimbrell scored nine points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fikany has scored all season.
Ruidoso struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ruidoso has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Hot Springs, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Ruidoso won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cobre at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Cobre is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Hot Springs, they will head out on the road to take on Santa Fe Indian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Santa Fe Indian is ranked 43rd, while Hot Springs is ranked 48th).
