After a 56-24 finish the last time they played, The South Lake Eagles and the St. Cloud Bulldogs decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. South Lake fell 7-0 to St. Cloud on Friday. South Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Cloud apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2014.
The team lost despite holding St. Cloud to a paltry 209 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to South Lake's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Brendon Robinson and Kaden Magloire who racked up four sacks between them.
This is the second loss in a row for South Lake and nudges their season record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for St. Cloud, the win was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
South Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Ridge is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for St. Cloud, they will head out on the road to face off against Celebration at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Celebration is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
