EL MONTE, Calif. - After five lead changes,
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) took the lead for good when it scored a touchdown with 2:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Arroyo (El Monte, Calif.) 28-20 on Saturday.
After trailing 14-12 at the half, the Knights went ahead on a touchdown run by
Nathan Coto with 4:00 to go in the third.
By the end of the third, Sierra Canyon found itself trailing by 6 points as Arroyo captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. AHS scored on a Coto touchdown run and a two-point conversion in the quarter.
Isaiah Renfro was the top performer for SC. The sophomore wide receiver threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
Coto played well for the El Monte school. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to seven on the year.
The loss comes after Arroyo defeated Bell Gardens 42-14 last week. The loss snapped the Knights' 3-game winning streak.
