The Mullen Broncos will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Valentine at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
Mullen had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Sutherland by a score of 45-38.
Mullen found their leader in underclassman Hayley Donohoe, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Riley Hegland, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Valentine came up short against McCook on Saturday and fell 43-35. Valentine has not had much luck with McCook recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Kinsey Buechle put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 14 points along with 9 steals and 7 rebounds. She scored a full 40% of Valentine's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Valentine, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
