Baseball Recap: St. Michael's Has No Trouble Against Santa Fe

St. Michael won the last time they faced Santa Fe and things went their way on Saturday too. St. Michael's blew past Santa Fe 13-7. The Horsemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Santiago Martinez and Luca Martini made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Martinez pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Martini tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Martinez scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Martini scored a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Giesler, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Chavez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Michael's and bumps their season record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Santa Fe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

St. Michael's wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 loss against Capital on the 31st. As for Santa Fe, they will challenge Roswell at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
