The Stuart W. Cramer Storm will face off against the Huss Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Stuart W. Cramer is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Crest on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Stuart W. Cramer lost 84-61 to Crest. The Storm were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.
Zack Alexander put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points and three steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makhi Brown, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Huss strolled past South Point with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 83-65. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Huss found their leader in freshman Jaleel Smith, who went 12 for 24 to rack up 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Smith's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips, who had 15 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.
Huss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.
Huss' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.5 points over those games. As for Stuart W. Cramer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Stuart W. Cramer and Huss are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Stuart W. Cramer hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.7 points per game. However, it's not like Huss struggles in that department as they've been averaging 68.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Stuart W. Cramer was taken down by Huss 74-44 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Smith, who went 14 of 22 en route to 40 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Now that Stuart W. Cramer knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
