The Cristo Rey St. Martin Knights will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Lake County Baptist Lions at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Cristo Rey St. Martin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Cristo Rey St. Martin made off with a 52-51 victory over Round Lake. The victory was just what Cristo Rey St. Martin needed coming off of a 69-39 defeat in their prior match.
Cristo Rey St. Martin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chance Handy, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lebron Massey, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake County Baptist's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Marquette Manor Baptist Academy 40-36.
Cristo Rey St. Martin's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Lake County Baptist, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Everything went Cristo Rey St. Martin's way against Lake County Baptist when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Cristo Rey St. Martin made off with a 58-35 victory.
