The Etowah Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the West Morgan Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Etowah has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while West Morgan will arrive with ten straight victories.
Last Friday, Etowah lost to Southside at home by a decisive 45-27 margin. While losing is never fun, Etowah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Southside is ranked 82nd).
Meanwhile, West Morgan stacked a tenth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-12 victory over Haleyville on the road.
Braxton Peters and Jalen Fletcher were among the main playmakers for West Morgan as the former threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes and the latter gained 187 total yards and three touchdowns. Fletcher has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Ti'Airrius Mosley also helped out with an impressive 104 receiving yards.
Etowah's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Cherokee County and 7-2 Oneonta (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.6% over those games). As for West Morgan, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
