Basketball Game Preview: Denver Academy Mustangs vs. SkyView Academy Hawks

The Denver Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the SkyView Academy Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Denver Academy came up short against Dayspring Christian Academy and fell 48-41. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Denver Academy had strong showings from Chris Janssen, who posted 18 points, and Riley Allen, who had 16 points. The matchup was Janssen's third in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, SkyView Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by the Timberwolves to the tune of 81-51. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-27.

Denver Academy better keep an eye on Markus Lloyd. He was instrumental in SkyView Academy's win, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Lloyd is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Lewis, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 19 points.

SkyView Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Denver Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Denver Academy was dealt a bruising 89-55 defeat at the hands of SkyView Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of SkyView Academy's Isaac Dove, who dropped a double-double on 42 points and ten rebounds.
