The Fulton Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson City Jays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fulton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Jefferson City is ranked 67th).
Fulton can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 22-13 victory over Winfield. The win was just what Fulton needed coming off of a 44-7 defeat in their prior match.
Fulton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malik Douglas led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown. Douglas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Fulton also got help from Gabriel Defily who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Fulton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Qailen Chambers and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Jefferson City can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Moberly at home to the tune of 34-7.
Jacob Wilson was a one-man wrecking crew for Jefferson City as he rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Bradarious Lewis also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.
Their wins bumped Fulton to 1-8 and Jefferson City to 5-4.
