The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats will face off against the Shorecrest Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Murphy will be strutting in after a victory while Shorecrest will be coming in after a defeat.
Shorecrest will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Archbishop Murphy extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Marysville-Pilchuck. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.
Khian Mallang spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Archbishop Murphy let Gabe Dixon and Mason Reinhard run wild. Dixon went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Reinhard went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That hit marked the first that Dixon has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Thomas, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop Murphy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest suffered their closest loss since April 25, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of Archbishop Murphy by a score of 5-3. Scots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wildcats since Friday.
Jackson Schultz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Shorecrest now has a losing record of 1-2-1. As for Archbishop Murphy, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Archbishop Murphy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Shorecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Archbishop Murphy skirted past Shorecrest 5-3 when the teams last played on Friday. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
