Elijah Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Eric Hernandez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Kenny Erazo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Castleberry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Worth only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Burkburnett, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Springtown on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
The result came thanks to Seth Hoyle's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrian Arias, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mason Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Burkburnett's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Castleberry, their record is now 12-4-1.
Castleberry couldn't quite get it done against Burkburnett in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Castleberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
