Baseball Recap: Bellefonte Extends Winning Streak to Five

Bellefonte extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Obama Academy of International Studies. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Raiders have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Vancas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Oliver Thornburg and Evan Mattern did most of the damage at the plate: Thornburg went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Mattern got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Parker Capparelle, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Bellefonte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Bellefonte's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Obama Academy of International Studies, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5-1.

As of now, neither Bellefonte nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
