Basketball Recap: Wewahitchka Comes Up Short

If Wewahitchka was feeling good fresh off their 78-26 takedown of Covenant Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wewahitchka Gators might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Franklin County Seahawks an easy 73-49 win. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-33 last Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Wewahitchka still got an impressive performance from Kaden Brooks, who went 9 of 21 en route to 23 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Brooks a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Bryce Ethridge, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braelin Morris, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Karcenpolo10 Karcenpolo10@Gmail.Com was another key player, going 9 of 13 on his way to 21 points and eight boards.

Wewahitchka's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Franklin County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Wewahitchka will venture away from home to square off against Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Vernon has lost five straight at home , while Wewahitchka has lost three on the road. As for Franklin County, they will host Liberty County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Franklin County likes a good challenge.
