The Wayne Trace Raiders will challenge the Antwerp Archers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Wayne Trace fell victim to Heritage and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Antwerp). They blew past Kalida 14-8 on Monday. The Archers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Alia Clem made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allison Sproles, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raelynne Zuber, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Antwerp was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Antwerp's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Wayne Trace, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Wayne Trace couldn't quite finish off Antwerp when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
