The Churubusco Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 38-20 bruising from Fairfield. While losing is never fun, Churubusco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Fairfield is ranked 48th).
Churubusco's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklyn Sinclair and Patty Wiggs. Sinclair scored 11 points, while Wiggs scored four points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Churubusco struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Churubusco bumped their record down to 4-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Fairfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.
Churubusco on the road again on Thursday and play against West Noble on January 11th. Hopefully West Noble focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. Fairfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th.
