The Valley Center Jaguars will challenge the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Valley Center and Escondido had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jaguars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Tuesday.
Valley Center started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-10.
The losing side was boosted by Olivia Becker, who had ten digs and three aces.
Meanwhile, Canyon Crest Academy got the win against Ramona on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ravens.
Canyon Crest Academy walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16, 25-10.
Valley Center better keep an eye on Jaz Damineni. She was instrumental in Canyon Crest Academy's win, getting eight aces. Those eight aces gave Damineni a new career-high.
Canyon Crest Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive contests.
Canyon Crest Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Valley Center, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16.
