Standley Lake and Conifer are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Gators will head out on the road to take on the Lobos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Standley Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Standley Lake took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Green Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gators won by a run and slipped past the Rams 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Titus Schrecengost made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Standley Lake is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Schrecengost was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Casias, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Conifer unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dakota Ridge by a score of 14-13.
Conifer got a massive performance out of Andrew Janasiewicz, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Nick Giefer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Conifer's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-7. As for Standley Lake, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Conifer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Standley Lake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Conifer, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Standley Lake's sizable advantage in that area, the Lobos will need to find a way to close that gap.
Standley Lake might still be hurting after the 18-8 defeat they got from Conifer when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
