The Lewistown Indians were the 60-37 winner over the Princeville Princes when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lewistown fell just short of Princeville by a score of 51-49. While losing is never fun, Lewistown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while Princeville is ranked 170th).
Despite the loss, Lewistown still got an impressive performance from Landry Smith, who scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Abby Wiegand, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Lewistown has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Princeville, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Lewistown will be home for the holidays to greet Stark County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Stark County has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 15. As for Princeville, they will head out on the road to face off against Illini Bluffs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Illini Bluffs is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
