The Seminole Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Greenwood Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Seminole is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Seminole beat Fort Stockton 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Zoey Teichroeb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on J'Cee Washington, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Zaylee Teichroeb, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Greenwood entered their tilt with Andrews on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Mustangs.
Greenwood also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Addison Arredondo gave up four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Mae Savage and Brylee Savage did most of the damage at the plate: Mae scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Brylee scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Mae is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Farrah Fortner was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Seminole pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, they now have a winning record of 13-12-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seminole hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .451. However, it's not like Greenwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Seminole's way against Greenwood in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Seminole made off with a 20-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seminole since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
