Dynasty may be a word that is thrown around too much in sports, but when referring to the
Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) football team it seems like the only appropriate word to use. The Shamrocks have captured 24-Kentucky 6A state championships and 12 under head coach Bob Beatty.

"Any time you are recognized by a group (MaxPreps) that represents your profession it's like you belong among the very best. This means a lot to us. MaxPreps is very important in the world of high school football and to be selected to the Tour of Champions means you're good," commented head coach Beatty, who completed his 17th season.
Trinity (15-0) appeared to cruise though their unbeaten season, shutting out six of their first 8 opponents. They also beat powerhouse Lafayette (45-7) during the regular season and later trounced the Lexington-based school again in their final game (56-21) to claim the 6A state title. At the end of their season, the Leopards were ranked No.21 in the MaxPreps national rankings, out of over 16,000 football programs.
On Friday night, Jan. 27 Coach Beatty and his team were awarded their fifth Army National Guard national ranking trophy as part of the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring the top football teams in the country.
Over 750 students and fans were packed in the Steinhauser Gymnasium on Friday night to pay tribute to their championship football team during the halftime of the MaxPreps nationally ranked boys varsity basketball game. As the half-time buzzer sounded, Athletic Director Rob Saxton encouraged everyone to remain in their seats as he welcomed MaxPreps representative Todd Townsend Sergeant Jonathan Brumley of the Kentucky Army National Guard to center court for the special presentation honoring the football team.
Townsend started with a brief explanation of the Tour of Champions as well as the MaxPreps Computer Rankings, and SGT Brumley continued by inviting Coach Beatty, his staff and the team to join him for the trophy presentation.
"It's the kind of commitment and tradition that makes the Trinity football team and the Army National Guard so special," said SGT Brumley as the team entered the gymnasium through a tunnel of cheerleaders. "Men and women committed to something bigger than oneself year after year – committed to the team. That's what leads to championships like you have accomplished here."
As he concluded his celebratory message, SGT Brumley then presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to the coach and team.
After the presentation, SGT Brumley and his staff handed out Tour of Champions commemorative t-shirts to Coach Brumley and his team as they took photos with the trophy.
Congratulations to Coach Beatty and the Trinity Shamrocks on another great season, high national ranking and for earning their fifth Army National Guard national ranking trophy!
