Columbia hasn't had much luck against Williston recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Columbia is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Last Thursday, Columbia beat Oakleaf 7-3.
Harleigh Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Luisa Taylor was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Sakiya Merriex, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Taylor wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Williston's offense. They fell just short of Crystal River by a score of 1-0 last Thursday. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The result came thanks to Aubrey Bertrand's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Columbia, their record now sits at 10-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Columbia has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
