The Lower Cape May Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Sunday with five straight wins but they left with six. They managed a 65-60 win over Wildwood. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Junior Hans, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Hans is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Cunniff, who scored 19 points.
Lower Cape May's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Wildwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Cape May will square off against Ocean City at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Ocean City is ranked 67th, while Lower Cape May is ranked 88th). As for Wildwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Gloucester Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gloucester Catholic is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
