Linville Hill waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They strolled past High Point Baptist Academy with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. Given Linville Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while High Point Baptist Academy is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Linville Hill was led to victory by Derian Peterseim and Stephen Smucker. Peterseim scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Smucker scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Smucker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Sejuste, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Linville Hill pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for High Point Baptist Academy, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Linville Hill and New Covenant Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for High Point Baptist Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome La Academia Charter at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th.
