Softball Recap: Franklin County Has No Trouble Against South Pike

Franklin County won the last time they faced South Pike and things went their way on Thursday too. Franklin County put the hurt on South Pike with a sharp 16-4 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jhalayah Tillman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Greyonne Queen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Tillman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Franklin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Franklin County now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for South Pike, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Franklin County will take on Bogue Chitto at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Bogue Chitto has averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for South Pike, they will welcome Lumberton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lumberton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something South Pike will no doubt try to take advantage of.
