The Del Campo Cougars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 14-7 to Rio Americano. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, Del Campo couldn't push the score so high this time.
Angel Reyna threw for 125 yards on 14 of 28 attempts. Richard Johnson was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Jordan Wiley rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Del Campo's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Rio Americano, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Campo will take on El Camino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Rio Americano, they will head out on the road to face off against Sacramento at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sacramento will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
