The Klahowya Eagles pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charles Wright. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), Klahowya still had to take the loss.
Klahowya lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Eli Kraft, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Kraft has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Grant Solvie was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Klahowya smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charles Wright only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Charles Wright's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benjamin Parrish led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tofy Ogunbinu-Peters, who scored 16 points.
Klahowya now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Charles Wright, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Klahowya will take on Cascade Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cascade Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests. As for Charles Wright, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bellevue Christian at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Bellevue Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
