Monticello is 2-8 against Rogers since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Monticello Magic will be home for the holidays to greet the Rogers Royals at 7:00 p.m. Monticello is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Monticello pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 85-63 loss at the hands of St. Michael-Albertville.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Patrick Shobe, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevon Singer, who scored 20 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, even though Elk River scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Rogers still came out on top. Rogers pulled ahead with a 62-61 photo finish over Elk River. Given Rogers' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Elk River is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Monticello's defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Rogers, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Monticello came up short against Rogers when the teams last played back in February of 2019, falling 59-55. Will Monticello have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
