Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Alonso's Third in Last Four Outings

Alonso won the last time they faced Lennard and things went their way on Saturday too. The Alonso Ravens came out on top against the Lennard Longhorns by a score of 7-3.

Elier Velazquez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Alonso's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Alonso, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Aidan Sansing, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Alonso is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Lennard and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alonso will be taking part in a tournament against Strawberry Crest at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Strawberry Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Lennard, they will take on Sumner in a tournament on Monday.
