Centennial (Roswell, Ga.) snapped
Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 26-7 victory on Saturday.
The Knights were up 20-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown catch by
Christian Robinson in the second quarter.
Centennial expanded its lead to 19 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS's lone score in the quarter came on a
Cyril Teal touchdown run.
The result came as a big surprise as the Longhorns came in ranked No. 75 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Georgia, while the Roswell school was ranked No. 310.
The Knights' standout player in the win was Robinson. The junior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Lambert's
Brock Maxwell played well. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
LHS's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Maxwell in the first quarter.
Centennial had struggled this season, allowing 43.4 points per game. But CHS tightened up and held the Suwanee school well below its season average of 24.0 points per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Knights, which lost to West Forsyth last week, 40-6. The defeat comes as a step back for Lambert, which notched a 21-7 victory over North Forsyth in its previous outing.
Centennial (1-5) will play a AAAAAA Region 6 game against South Forsyth next week, while Lambert (5-1) will take on Johns Creek also in a AAAAAA Region 6 game.
