Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact Denver South proved on Friday. They came out on top against Thomas Jefferson by a score of 59-46. The victory was just what Denver South needed coming off of a 66-30 defeat in their prior game.
Denver South can attribute much of their success to Nevaeh Millard, who scored 19 points along with three steals, and Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Millard is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Asha Daniels, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down Rangeview 44-30.

Denver South was able to grind out a solid win over Vista PEAK Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 57-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denver South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
