Mather hasn't had much luck against Northside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rangers will square off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Mather knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Northside likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Mather got the win against Steinmetz College Prep by a conclusive 19-3. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Streaks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Lucas Lambert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javier Barriors, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Mather: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Jadier Castillo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and two doubles.
Mather kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Northside hadn't beaten St. Patrick on the road since April 6, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Shamrocks.
Will Moran looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
At the plate, Northside saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leir Dierdorff, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Dierdorff has launched this season.
Mather's record now sits at 6-4. As for Northside, their record is now 8-4.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mather has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Northside struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mather might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Northside when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
