Chaparral's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew De La Torre, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. De La Torre has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Tiet, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Chaparral has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Great Oak, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. The timing is sure in Murrieta Valley's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Pumas have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Great Oak, they will square off against the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Temecula Valley is ranked 191st, while the Wolfpack are ranked 208th).
