This season hasn't been kind to the Greeley West Spartans, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northglenn on Tuesday. Greeley West was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northglenn apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Greeley West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Zepeda. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals. The contest was Zepeda's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dominic Florez, who scored eight points.
Northglenn had a senior duo take command as Trevor Dean scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Jonathan Hernandez scored 22 points. That's the first time this season that Hernandez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uriah Duran, who scored two points along with five rebounds.
Greeley West's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Northglenn, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Greeley West will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Saturday. Northglenn's road trip will continue as they head out to face Monarch at 6:30 p.m. on December 11th.
