After two games on the road, Denton is heading back home. They will take on the Argyle Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denton's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Friday, Denton narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lake Dallas 3-2.
Denton was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Joel Rodriguez and
Cris Ordonez, who scored all three of Denton's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 15 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Argyle's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grapevine. While losing is never fun, Argyle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Grapevine is ranked 202nd).
Denton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Argyle, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8-1.
Denton came up short against Argyle in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Denton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
