Northampton County and Roanoke Rapids are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Northampton County Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Northampton County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,349 points over their last 19 matchups.
Northampton County can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Warren County 72-50. Given Northampton County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Warren County is ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northampton County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gmarcus Faison, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Roberts, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids ended up a good deal behind Rocky Mount on Tuesday and lost 60-44. Roanoke Rapids has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northampton County pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Roanoke Rapids, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Northampton County was able to grind out a solid win over Roanoke Rapids in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 71-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
