The Salpointe Catholic Lancers extended their postseason success on Friday against the Williams Field Black Hawks. They walked away with a 35-25 win over the Black Hawks. The win made it back-to-back wins for Salpointe Catholic.
Salpointe Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richard Rivera, who gained 108 total yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Avelar, who threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Despite the loss, Williams Field still got an impressive performance from Dylan Lee, who rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Lee really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Salpointe Catholic's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.5 points per game. As for Williams Field, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Salpointe Catholic will square off against Saguaro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Saguaro is ranked seventh, while Salpointe Catholic is ranked tenth). Williams Field does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
