Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles vs. Addenbrooke Classical Academy Mustangs

The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles will square off against the Addenbrooke Classical Academy Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mountain Lutheran has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 3.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Rocky Mountain Lutheran duked it out withBriggsdale on Friday. Rocky Mountain Lutheran took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Briggsdale. The Eagles were up 31-15 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Borchardt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, and Abraham Rivas, who posted 15 points and eight boards. Borchardt has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Harris, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Addenbrooke Classical Academy came into Wednesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Nederland 65-20. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Addenbrooke Classical Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran took a serious blow against Addenbrooke Classical Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 57-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Addenbrooke Classical Academy's Calum Michelsen, who went 8 for 17 en route to 23 points and five steals.
