The Arleta Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Viewpoint Patriots at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Arleta fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against San Fernando on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-5. The Mustangs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
BRENDA AGUILAR spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Arleta saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was NAOMI TACHIN, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. TACHIN has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Viewpoint entered their tilt with Windward on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Emjay Peck made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Peck was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anniston Aragon, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Skylar Meehan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Viewpoint was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Arleta's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Viewpoint, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arleta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Viewpoint struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
