Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Irmo Yellowjackets walked away with it. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 85-0 victory over Colleton County. The win was just business as usual for Irmo, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Irmo to victory were Jaden Allen-hendrix and Aaron (AJ) Brand Jr.. Allen-hendrix gained 185 total yards and four touchdowns, while Brand Jr. threw for 277 yards and six touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. Allen-hendrix was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Donovan Murph was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Irmo's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9 Colleton County and 2-9 Lancaster (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Colleton County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Irmo will take on Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Myrtle Beach is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Colleton County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
