The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Becker on Thursday as Sauk Rapids-Rice made off with a 86-66 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Becker's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Weiss, who scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyan Blomquist, who scored 17 points.
The victory (which was Sauk Rapids-Rice's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for Becker, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Sauk Rapids-Rice will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Albany at 8:00 p.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Albany is ranked 78th, while Sauk Rapids-Rice is ranked 58th). Becker and Mandan will round out the year against one another at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th at. Mandan is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
