Madera has gone 8-2 against Sanger recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Coyotes will venture away from home to face off against the Apaches at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Madera 2.6, Sanger 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Madera proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Bullard 2-1.
Viviana Nombrano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits.
At the plate, Madera secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Destinee Avila, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Madera hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Sanger came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Tigers. That's two games straight that the Apaches have won by exactly three runs.
Emma Hernandez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianah Cardoso, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Samantha Guerra, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Madera is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sanger, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Madera took their victory against Sanger in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Apaches have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
