The Massabesic Mustangs will take on the Portland Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Massabesic will be strutting in after a victory while Portland will be coming in after a defeat.
Massabesic headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Westbrook let them put that streak behind them. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Blazes a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1st (when they won 13-2).
Brady Batson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Batson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Noah Bryan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Massabesic is undefeated when Bryan posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-8-1 otherwise. Cassius Hogan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Portland scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 15-8 to Bonny Eagle. The Bulldogs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Brody Viola was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mateo Pulaski, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Massabesic's win bumped their record up to 6-8-1. As for Portland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
Massabesic skirted past Portland 2-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
