The Koliganek Huskies lost against the King Cove T-Jacks and Rookies back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Koliganek had to suffer through a rough 74-42 loss at the hands of King Cove.
Despite the loss, Koliganek saw an underclassman step up: Gusty Tunguing IV scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Goodell, who scored six points.
Jager Brandell had an outrageously good game for King Cove as he scored 35 points. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mack, who scored 16 points.
Koliganek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for King Cove, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Koliganek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. King Cove on the road again on Saturday and play against Bristol Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Bristol Bay will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 66th, while King Cove is ranked 19th).
