Softball Recap: Lebanon Trail Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lebanon Trail waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Independence Knights. That's more bragging rights for the Trail Blazers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Parker Rodgers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kendall Dreary and Ella Ramon did most of the damage at the plate: Dreary went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI, while Ramon scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Ramon has posted since back in April of 2024. Valentina Quinones was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lebanon Trail hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Lebanon Trail's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Lebanon Trail will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Memorial at 1:00 p.m. Lebanon Trail's pitchers better be ready for this one: Memorial has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Independence, they will venture away from home to take on Centennial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
