Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Hasbrouck Heights Aviators, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a tough 34-9 defeat at the hands of Hawthorne on Friday. Hasbrouck Heights' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Frank Billings rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Cummings was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hawthorne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Menne, who threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Matthew Lorper was in the mix as well, providing Hawthorne with two touchdowns.
Hasbrouck Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Hawthorne, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Hasbrouck Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hawthorne will take on Mountain Lakes at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Mountain Lakes is ranked 102nd, while Hawthorne is ranked 121st).
