The Thurston Colts will take on the Eagle Point Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Thurston sitting on seven straight wins and Eagle Point on five.
On Friday, Thurston was able to grind out a solid victory over North Eugene, taking the game 9-6.
Gabriella Montes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kendall Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Thurston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Eagle Point made easy work of Springfield on Saturday and carried off an 11-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brylee Leonardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kady Lindstrom, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Estes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Thurston's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Eagle Point, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thurston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Eagle Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thurston came out on top in a nail-biter against Eagle Point in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 10-8. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
