The Millburn Millers will head out on the road to face off against the Caldwell Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Millburn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-43 victory over Fair Lawn.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millburn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zach Benmorits, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Benmorits hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Chase Plotkin, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Caldwell strolled past Becton with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 66-52. Given Caldwell's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Becton is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Millburn pushed their record up to 18-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Caldwell, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Millburn couldn't quite finish off Caldwell in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 48-46. Can Millburn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
