High Point has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wise Pumas at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. High Point will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Wise is ranked 44th).
On Monday, High Point was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Bladensburg. High Point has struggled against Bladensburg recently, as their matchup on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
High Point's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kadan Solomonraj, who scored 15 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Eze, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Wise came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 91-48 victory over Parkdale on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Wise has managed all season.
Wise got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Jackson out in front who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Obase, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
High Point bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Wise, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Tuesday's game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Solomonraj and Obase. Solomonraj has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 16 points and 2.6 blocks. For his part, Obase has averaged 10.3 points, 2.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
High Point was dealt a bruising 80-27 defeat at the hands of Wise in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point High Point was down 48-10.
